ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN with cinematic camera move, created with Unreal Engine. I created a rugged landscape, featuring castle ruins and a lone man atop a cliff.
Techniques: I assembled the landscape from megascans, which are photorealistic 3D objects scanned from real life objects, that can be imported into Unreal Engine. I used megascans to create the cliffs and plains. I used atmosphere and lighting features within Unreal Engine to design the sunset lighting. I produced the lion statues using photogrammetry - that is, I took several hundred photos of an existing statue, then used RealityCapture software to assemble the photos into a 3D model that I could import into the environment. I designed a unique human character by combining preset features within Metahuman Creator. I had him move from a kneeling pose to a standing pose, using an animation preset downloaded from a Mixamo animation library.
I created this rural scenery in Unreal Engine. I modeled the road and added a water asset to create the puddles. I used a foliage tool to “paint” grass onto the scenery. The distant mountain is a megascan. I modeled the barn in Maya, painting on the texture with Adobe Substance painter. The humanoid character was added in Unreal Engine, to create a sense of scale. The finishing touch was a subtle camera move.
