3D CHARACTER DESIGN that I originally sketched in pencil, combining the features of a pug/French bulldog with a cicada, to create the pug-bug. Using orthographic sketches for reference, I modeled in Maya 3D. I also used Maya to create the lighting and turntable animation. I painted/textured using both Maya and ZBrush. I also used Zbrush to sculpt a displacement map, to create more detail in the skin texture. Final video edited in AfterEffects. This video shows the creature with 1) topology visible, 2) topology hidden, 3) painted and texture, and 4) composited over background.
